Heart-Centered Healing: Up Close with 30 Men Deeply Moving

Picture this: close to 30 men sitting shoulder to shoulder in a packed rec room.

One by one they check in, state their stress levels, and take a seat in the circle. It’s rowdy. Men are switching seats, chairs are scraping and dragging across the floor. The chatter drags on. The chairs squeal like an out-of-tune organ or a violin missing a string or two. Then someone dumps a pitcher of water all over the floor while trying to pour a glass. Five men move to mop up the mess. One man says, “I got this.”

“Let’s begin,” I say.

One by one, the few who are still aware I’m the only woman in the room turn their attention back to me. Step 1: Stop Where I Am. I am a woman on a mission in their midst.

First names now: I’m John, Jim, Tom, Trey… one man gives a celebrity name from a movie. Laughter draws more attention to our little STOP & FLOW game. I lay down some ground rules. A third of the group, maybe more, is finally ready to drop in.

One after the next, the men report they know they are stressed because their chests feel like they could explode. A few say their hands and feet are unbearably hot. Itching for calm, peace, and serenity, we are ready to go further.

What happens next is one of those magical experiences I wish I could share with the world daily. We find ourselves at Step 2: Tap Into Heart — and the men begin shouting out what’s on their hearts to have today: peace, healing, support, forgiveness, serenity NOW.

Real cravings. Raw desire.

It’s loud, and the walls are thin.

We tap into the heart together, and it’s not theory — it’s felt. Step by step, one STOP & FLOW move at a time, something shifts. We become the collective observer in a coherent state, picturing good for ourselves and one another. The room seems larger. It’s as if the ceiling opens up and we can finally breathe and be ourselves.

In under 10 minutes, two-thirds of the men are up on their feet. They’re moving in sync with the music playing from my mini Sono speaker. I’m modeling simple moves — easy to follow, like arms waving to a friend. The ancients might critique our “cloud hands,” but we are anything but old monks hiding away on a mountain. We know better than to try to hold up the sun. Hell, we can barely pour water!

The men stay with me, smiling, as I turn to make sure we haven’t lost anyone. From the center, I have the best view: men of all races and colors with tears streaming down their faces.

I know in that moment what is happening isn’t just stress relief. It’s centuries of power-over, centuries of enslavement and silence breaking apart. Chains are being released. DNA is remembering its freedom.

This is transformational, heart-centered healing. And it’s what happens when we stop trying to manage stress in our heads and instead let the body speak.

In this miraculous men’s STOP & FLOW session, agitation gave way to activation. A room full of grown men harmonized heaven on earth — together, in circle.
