I cried a tsunami yesterday!

Dear friends,

While resolutions tend to be hard to keep, desire is daily rocket fuel for our everyday life.

I have to be transparent. Yesterday, I was finding it very hard to not be at the effect of some really emotional conversations and life circumstances.

Upon returning from an incredible trip to the blue zone, my husband and oldest spent the "break week" ill and in bed. I was so thankful to have the vital Chi stored to care for them.

I thought I was being mindful of not shorting myself out, then wham, yesterday I got slammed with a tsunami of emotions within conversations that could have literally taken a village out.

All is well with my soul now and also grace, friends. It’s my word for how I want to feel in 2024. How do you want to feel?

Blame, shame, guilt, abandonment, and chronic fear reared their ugly heads yesterday. I didn’t choose them nor do I plan to perpetuate them today. Surviving up to now has unfortunately had us all believing we need these ways. We don’t.

Shall we let go? How? Choose any other way you want to feel and then go feel that way as fast as you can!

And yes, yesterday many of us around the world were already feeling defeated, misunderstood, and lacking focus for our bright new year ahead. The year(s) are still ahead! So let’s say how we want to feel more often.

Let’s let one another know we care. Let’s stay in connection at all costs. We can start by honoring how hard and also necessary to our human experience it is that we can as humans, give grief, sorrow, pain and yes, hope, happiness, and joy…all a place! It’s ok and healthy to cry.

Calm connection is a moment-to-moment opportunity we can return our attention and intention to with practice daily. And, we don’t have to wait a whole new year to try!

👁️ This Week's Connect to Calm Tip: Ask how you want to feel daily. Write that desire down. STOP & FLOW. We all can!

Quick story from a men’s recovery group I have co-facilitated for years.

When we began introducing the calm connection that STOP & FLOW provides to this bright group of men in addiction recovery, the common response to the question “How do you want to feel?” was “less stressed, out of pain.”

Years later, having asked this same exact question before every STOP & FLOW session we’ve played, these are the desired feeling states the men are now expressing:

"I want to feel vibrant, alive, more awake, energized, refreshed, rejuvenated, inner peace, blissful, peaceful, confident for my day, graceful, and so much more!”

Can you hear and maybe even sense the whole system response as you read them? These words carry significantly higher frequency, vibration, and invoke such life-affirming e*motion.

Commonly the men report achieving them after taking time to STOP & FLOW, but that’s not my point today. Today, I’m simply sharing there are days we all don’t feel well and good despite our very best attempts to do so.

Each of us still has a say in how we want to feel and what if we all embraced this simple desire, and wrote it down like every day was New Year’s Day? Creation could have a field day with all these rockets of desire!

Let me know if you try this. Let me know how you want to feel. I want to feel good today and calmer than I did yesterday! Thanks for connecting.
